Pre-Production
Collaboration and Research
This project was a collective work between myself and a social-media and marketing major. The premise is a mock collaboration between DJI and Fortnite, intertwining the 3D world of the popular game ‘Fortnite’ and DJI’s latest drone product ‘Mavic 4 Pro’.
As I begin preparing to build a 3D model, I spoke with my collaborator about what he envisioned for the model and how we would incorporate it into a finished model that would be applicable to the style and environment of Fortnite. I sketched ideations for a ‘glider’ and ‘back-bling' that had the Mavic 4 Pro as the center focus of the in-game character customizations.
Production
Modeling and Texturing
Production began with a blocking phase, using primitive geometry to establish the core, body of the drone. I separated this production into sections: building the body, the wings, and then small details across the model.
The final stage of production involved UV unwrapping and surfacing for creating the textures of the model. I separated the UV maps of the model into seven sections: the body, all four wings, the camera, and the rig of the camera on the front face.
Post-Production
AI Integration
To transition from 3D production to final delivery, I imported the rendered images into Google Gemini and wrote prompts to create the images needed for the project. Combining a fully rendered 3D model with the power of Nano Banana resulted in a very polished, accurate final product.
